Amherst Ramblers Announce Pair of Trades Ahead of MHL Deadline

AMHERST, NS — The Amherst Ramblers have announced two moves as the team continues to position itself for the stretch run of the Maritime Junior Hockey League season.

In the first transaction, the Ramblers have traded 20-year-old forward Bailey Shortall to the Grand Falls Rapids. In return, Amherst receives a 7th-round draft pick in the 2026 MHL Entry Draft along with future considerations.

In a separate and significant move, the Ramblers have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Ryan Hayes, 20-year-old forward Jacob Kaine, a 2026 5th-round draft pick, and a 2027 7th-round draft pick from the Miramichi Timberwolves.

In exchange, Amherst sends defenceman Luke Jardine, the MHL rights to forwards Cohen MacIsaac and Jacob Lachance, a 2026 1st-round pick, a 2026 2nd-round pick, a 2027 2nd-round pick, and future considerations to Miramichi.

The 6’3 195 Hayes brings veteran leadership, stability, and championship pedigree to the Ramblers’ blueline, while Kaine adds experience, size and offensive upside to the forward group, having spent the last two seasons in the QMJHL with the Gatineau Olympiques.

We are excited to welcome Ryan Hayes and Jacob Kaine to the organization and extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Bailey Shortall and Luke Jardine for their contributions to our team and community.
