Crushers Top Ramblers 6–3 at Amherst Stadium
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AMHERST, NS — The Pictou County Weeks Crushers came into Amherst Stadium Saturday night and skated to a 6–3 win over the Amherst Ramblers in a spirited Maritime Junior Hockey League contest.
Pictou County struck early and built momentum throughout the game, scoring consistently and using strong transition play to keep the Ramblers on their heels. Their offence was led by timely scoring in every period, allowing the Crushers to maintain control and build a multi-goal lead through 60 minutes.
Amherst battled back in stretches, generating quality scoring chances and finding the back of the net on three occasions, but Pictou County’s attack proved too deep and effective on this night. The Ramblers’ goals came from Cooper Cormier, Jacob Kaine, and Ty Peddigrew, each contributing in key moments to keep Amherst within striking distance.
While Amherst showed energy and effort throughout — especially late, when they pressed the pace trying to narrow the gap — the Crushers consistently answered with offensive pressure of their own.
Between the pipes, both goaltenders faced plenty of traffic, but Pictou County’s save totals and defensive coverage on key shifts helped preserve their lead.
Amherst’s special teams were challenged throughout the night, and despite some early opportunities, the Ramblers were unable to capitalize on the power play. The loss ends the home stand on a tough note, but the team heads into its next matchup focused on regrouping and refining both ends of the ice.
The Ramblers thank the Amherst Stadium crowd for their support and look to bounce back in their upcoming MHL schedule.
