Dutch Clutch In Overtime.
It was a wild afternoon today at the Stadium, as the Ramblers picked up their second win on the weekend taking down the nationally-ranked Summerside Western Capitals.
Cooper Cormier got things rolling scoring twice in the first period, unfortunately, the Caps would answer back with two goals of their own to end the opening frame tied 2-2.
Summerside would hop on the offence in the second, scoring three goals in the middle frame, but we would get one goal of our own with Goran Stobo potting his first career MHL goal sending us to the third down 5-3.
The third period would be all Amherst, Charles-Antoine Lavallee got the Ramblers back in the game, powering a wrist shot past the Summerside goalie to bring the team to within a goal. Then, with Lyam LeBlanc on the bench for the extra attacker Jonah Jelley would get a cross-crease pass from Cooper Cormier and he would make no mistake sliding the puck into a yawning cage to tie the game at 5.
With just over 30 seconds left in the extra frame Aiden Dufault would chip the puck past the Summerside defender and would look back door for Liam Dutcher, the pass would just go out of his reach. The Rams would recover the puck in the corner, Dufault hit Dutcher with a pass to the slot and he went between the legs to seal the deal for the Rams.
The Ramblers continue their home stand this Saturday as they look to move atop the division as they take on the Yarmouth Mariners.
