Good Times Roll On

The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers improved to 2-0 on the young MHL season after a 5-2 win over the Valley Wildcats this evening.

The first period was back and forth, with great chances for both sides, but the goalies were perfect in the opening 20 minutes sending the game to the second knotted at zeros.

In the middle frame the red hot Ramblers powerplay would continue firing on all cylinders as Mathis Perron would shoot far post and beat the Wildcats goalie to give the Ramblers the lead, and they would not look back! Later in the second, Jack O’Blenis would cut down the left boards and feed Christian Reardon cross ice and Reardon would tuck the puck to double the Ramblers lead. On the man advantage once again Mathis Perron powers the puck through the Cats goalies glove to make it 3-0. Valley would get one back before the end of the second to close the gap to two heading to the third.

Four minutes into the third, off a turn over by the Wildcats, Reardon would find Charles-Antoine Lavallee alone in the slot and Lavallee would pot his first of the season restoring the Ramblers three goal lead. Valley would cut the lead back to two with a powerplay marker halfway through the period. A couple minutes after the Cats scored their second, Jaden Reyers would cut through the Valley defenders and fire a puck over the net, hard enough for it to bounce off the glass and back out front on to the stick on Mark Corbett and he would score the Ramblers fifth on the game making the final score 5-2.

The Ramblers will be back in action next Saturday night for the first cobequid clash of the regular season as the Bearcats come to town.
