Picking Up Crucial Points
It was all good this evening in Amherst as the Ramblers moved farther up the south division standings with a 5-2 win.
The game was a goalie dual for the better part of the first period with both goalies making 10+ saves. Valley would open the scoring late in the first with 4:06 to go. The Ramblers would draw even with Mark Corbett getting a short-handed breakaway, he potted his third of the season with under a minute to play.
The offence would get rolling in the second, with Drew MacIntyre deflecting an Alex Christmas pass into the back of the net giving the Rams the lead. Anthony Gaudet would keep the good times going, sniping the top corner on the Valley goalie to make it 3-2. Mark Corbett would get back on the score sheet with his second of the game. Valley would score before the end of the second to make the Ramblers lead just two going to the third.
In the third, the Ram’s lead would only grow with Jack O’Blenis extending his scoring streak and giving the Ramblers their three-goal lead back. That’s how the game would finish with the Ramblers winning 5-2.
The Ramblers will look to improve their positioning in the tight race for the playoffs as they hit the road to Yarmouth tomorrow evening for a Sunday night game.
