AMHERST, N.S. — The Amherst Ramblers have acquired 2008-born defenceman Max Sheppard from the Campbellton Tigers in exchange for a 2027 second-round and fifth-round draft pick.

A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Sheppard has developed into a promising young defenceman through a strong hockey background in Newfoundland and at Stanstead College in Quebec. The 5-foot-11, 168-pound left-shot defenceman began his junior hockey development with the TriCom Thunder U15 AAA program, recording two goals and 12 assists for 14 points in 32 games during the 2022-23 season. He then continued his development with Stanstead College, where he has competed at several levels over the past three seasons.

Sheppard’s offensive game continued to develop at Stanstead. In 2024-25, he recorded three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 39 CAHS games, while also contributing at the CSSHLE U18 and other levels. Most recently, during the 2025-26 season, Sheppard posted three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 20 CSSHLE U18 games, along with 23 assists and 23 points in 40 CAHS games. He also added five points in eight CPSHA games, including two goals and three assists in four playoff contests.

The Campbellton Tigers selected Sheppard with the 84th overall pick in the 2024 MJAHL Draft, while the Acadie-Bathurst Titan selected him 225th overall in the 2024 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Welcome to Amherst, Max!
