Ramblers Fall 3–2 in Overtime to Summerside
SUMMERSIDE, PEI — Tuesday, December 16, 2025 — In a tightly contested Maritime Junior Hockey League matchup at Credit Union Place, the Amherst Ramblers came up just short, dropping a 3–2 overtime decision to the Summerside Western Capitals. The loss was Amherst’s first of the season in overtime action.
Summerside struck early in the opening frame, as Owen MacPherson opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game, converting a feed from Hendry and Rougeau. Amherst battled back, erasing the deficit in the second period when Anthony Gaudet lit the lamp shorthanded at 1:09.
The back-and-forth contest continued in the third period. Jack O’Blenis gave Amherst its first lead of the night at 10:43, assisted by Anthony Morin, but Summerside responded just moments later when MacLean ripped home the equalizer at 12:42 to send the game to overtime.
Just 1:42 into the extra frame, Summerside’s Alex Guy netted the game-winner on a setup from Thompson and Howatt, ending the game dramatically.
Shots on goal heavily favoured the Capitals (66–34), while special teams struggled to make an impact, with both clubs finishing 0-for-on the power play. Amherst goaltender Hudson Bradley was peppered with 66 shots, turning aside 63, while Summerside’s Sanche stopped 32 of 34.
Despite the loss, the Ramblers’ effort showed grit and competitiveness against one of the top teams in the league.
