Ramblers Fall in Game 6 Rout; Series Headed to Winner-Take-All Game 7

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Amherst Ramblers will head to a decisive Game 7 after falling 9-3 to the Summerside Western Capitals in Game 6 of the MHL Cup semi-finals Thursday night at the Amherst Stadium.

Summerside came out firing early and never let up, striking three times in the opening ten minutes to seize control of the game. Goals from Brett Arsenault (1:23), Brennan Murphy (8:44), and Alexandre Guy (9:50) quickly put the Ramblers on their heels. Christian White responded midway through the period to get Amherst on the board, but the Capitals restored their multi-goal lead late in the frame.

Despite the early deficit, the Ramblers showed pushback late in the first period when Elliot Wright found the back of the net to make it 4-2 after twenty minutes.

The second period saw Summerside take full control. Owen MacPherson extended the lead before Arsenault and Elliott Mullen each added their second goals of the night, including another power-play marker, stretching the score to 7-2. Evan Nicholson replied for Amherst to cut the deficit to 7-3, but that would be as close as the Ramblers would get.

Summerside continued to press in the third period, with Guy scoring his second of the game early before Ryder Howatt capped the scoring late, sealing the 9-3 victory and forcing a winner-take-all Game 7.

Special teams played a significant role in the outcome, as the Capitals capitalized on four of nine power-play opportunities, while Amherst was held scoreless on eight chances. The game also featured a physical edge, with multiple penalties and misconducts handed out as tensions rose throughout the contest.

In goal, Kolten Bourret turned aside 30 shots to earn the win for Summerside. The Ramblers used both Hudson Bradley and Brandon Lavoie, who combined to make 29 saves in the loss.

With the defeat, the series is now tied 3-3, setting up a decisive Game 7 on the road in Summerside.

The Ramblers will look to regroup quickly as their season comes down to one final game with a trip to the MHL Cup Final on the line.
