Ramblers Hold Off Late Surge to Claim Seventh Straight Win in 5–4 Thriller
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Amherst, NS – It was another electric night inside Amherst Stadium as the Amherst Ramblers extended their winning streak to seven games with a dramatic 5–4 victory over the Grand Falls Rapids. What began as a statement performance turned into a test of resilience, and the Ramblers answered the challenge at every turn.
Amherst set the tone early. Midway through the first period, Anthony Morin found the back of the net on a clean setup from Wright, igniting the home crowd. Before the period was out, Dairen Reynolds doubled the lead, finishing off a crisp passing sequence with Wheeler and Peddigrew. With a 2–0 advantage after twenty minutes, the Ramblers looked poised and confident.
The second period only strengthened that impression. At 11:44, Anthony Gaudet buried Amherst’s third of the night after a shot from Cooper Cormier. Moments later, Cooper Cormier turned scorer on the power play, finishing a quick-touch play from Gaudet and Owen Aura to stretch the lead to four. Thomas Gagnon added another at 16:57, set up by Jack O’Blenis and Patrick Lambe, giving Amherst a commanding 5–0 lead heading into the final frame.
But the third period brought a storm.
Grand Falls erupted with four goals in just over ten minutes, starting with a power-play marker from Francoeur. Leard and Allard followed with goals of their own as the Rapids gained momentum, feeding off every bounce and loose puck. When Francoeur struck again on the power play with less than two minutes remaining, the once-comfortable lead had shrunk to a single goal.
With the building tense and Grand Falls pressing, Amherst leaned heavily on goaltender Brandon Lavoie, who stood tall in the closing minutes. Despite facing 43 shots on the night, including 17 in the third period alone, Lavoie’s timely saves allowed the Ramblers to weather the Rapids’ furious push and secure the win.
What began as a dominant showcase turned into a gut-check finish—but the result was the same: another victory in a growing streak that now sits at seven straight.
The Ramblers continue their march forward with momentum, confidence, and a belief that they can win in more ways than one.
