Ramblers Overwhelmed by Blizzard
©Percy Picard Edmundston, NB – September 13, 2025 — The Amherst Ramblers got off to a rocky start Saturday night, as they were handed a tough 10–2 loss by the Edmundston Blizzard at the Centre Jean-Daigle.
Things started promisingly for the Ramblers, who struck first just under three minutes into the game. Anthony Morin converted on the power play, finishing a setup from teammates Dawe and White to give Amherst an early 1–0 lead. For a brief moment, it looked like the visitors might take control.
But the Blizzard answered quickly—and emphatically.
Edmundston tied the game less than four minutes later, when Tremblay beat Amherst starter Hudson Bradley with a shot from the slot. Before the first period was over, the Blizzard would take a 2–1 lead on a goal from Robichaud, and they never looked back.
The second period proved disastrous for the Ramblers. The Blizzard scored five unanswered goals in the frame, including two fromThomson and individual markers from Fortin, Mercier, and Labranche. With wave after wave of pressure, Edmundston overwhelmed the Amherst defense and chased Bradley from the crease midway through the period. Backup Cole Echlin came in, but the onslaught continued.
By the time the third period began, Amherst was down 7–1 and searching for positives. Edmundston added three more goals in the final frame, including Thomson’s hat-trick goal and Fortin’s second of the night. Amherst did manage a late tally from Elliot Wright, assisted by Jack O’Blenis, but the damage had long been done.
Goaltending was a challenge throughout the night for the Ramblers. Bradley allowed six goals on 14 shots before being relieved, while Echlin stopped 7 of 11 in relief. At the other end, Edmundston’s Massé turned aside 26 of 28 shots for the win.
Despite the score, Amherst actually outshot the Blizzard 28–25. But it was quality over quantity that made the difference, as Edmundston capitalized on nearly every high-danger opportunity.
The Ramblers will now regroup as they prepare for their road trip to continue, looking to bounce back with a tighter defensive effort and a renewed focus on consistency.
