GRAND FALLS, N.B. — The Amherst Ramblers overcame three separate deficits Saturday night, rallying for a thrilling 6-5 overtime victory over the Grand Falls Rapids at the E. & P. Sénéchal Centre.

The Rapids opened the scoring at 11:57 of the first period and added another goal at 15:55 to take a 2-0 lead. Amherst answered late in the frame, as Christian White scored with 50 seconds remaining, assisted by Jonathan Lau and Zach Wheeler, cutting the deficit to 2-1 after 20 minutes.

The Ramblers pulled even at 8:25 of the second when Elliott Duval finished off a two-on-one opportunity, with Ethan Fraser and Ben Manos picking up assists. Grand Falls regained the lead just 10 seconds later, but Amherst responded again when Elliot Wright scored at 16:15, assisted by Brock Lyons and captain Jeremie Richard. The Rapids would take a 4-3 lead into the second intermission after scoring with just 17 seconds remaining in the period.

Grand Falls extended its lead to 5-3 just 42 seconds into the third, but Amherst immediately answered. Gabriel Boivin scored only 14 seconds later, with Duval and Fraser assisting, to bring the Ramblers back within one.

With time winding down and Amherst trailing 5-4, Wheeler came through with the equalizer at 18:32 of the third period, scoring on the power play with an assist from Lau to force overtime.

It took just 21 seconds of the extra frame for Amherst to complete the comeback. Wheeler scored his second of the night and third point of the game, beating Grand Falls goaltender Noah-Preston Moore to give the Ramblers the 6-5 victory. Coen Miller and Owen Dyke assisted on the overtime winner.

Hudson Bradley made 31 saves before being replaced by Brandon Lavoie with 42 seconds remaining in the third period. Lavoie stopped all 13 shots he faced, including the overtime period, to earn the victory. Moore made 45 saves for Grand Falls.

The Ramblers finished the night 1-for-3 on the power play, while Grand Falls went 0-for-4. Amherst outscored the Rapids 2-1 in the third period before completing the comeback in overtime.
