SUMMERSIDE, PE — The Amherst Ramblers delivered a determined third-period comeback Thursday night, scoring four unanswered goals to secure a 4–2 victory over the Summerside Western Capitals at Credit Union Place.
Summerside carried the early momentum, opening the scoring on a first-period power play before extending the lead midway through the second period to take a 2–0 advantage into the final frame. Amherst remained composed despite the deficit, tightening defensively and waiting for an opportunity to shift the game’s momentum.
That opportunity came early in the third period when Anthony Gaudet put the Ramblers on the board with a power-play marker just over four minutes in. Gaudet struck again minutes later to even the score at 2–2, erasing Summerside’s lead and energizing the Amherst bench.
Midway through the period, Thomas Gagnon scored the go-ahead goal to give Amherst its first lead of the night. With Summerside pressing for a late equalizer, Gagnon added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the comeback victory.
In goal, Hudson Bradley turned aside 30 of 32 shots, providing the steady presence Amherst needed to remain within reach until the offense broke through in the third.
The win highlights the Ramblers’ resilience on the road and secures valuable points in the standings as the regular season continues.
