October 13, 2025 – Amherst Stadium

The Amherst Ramblers made the most of home ice on Monday night, skating to a 3–1 victory over the Yarmouth Mariners in a gritty, penalty-filled matchup at Amherst Stadium.

After a cautious and scoreless first period that saw both teams exchanging early penalties and feeling out their opponent, it was Amherst who found their rhythm in the second. The turning point came midway through the frame when captain Anthony Gaudet capitalized on a power play at 14:32, putting the Ramblers on the board with assists from Dairen Reynolds and Owen Aura. It was a crucial goal in a game where special teams loomed large.

Goaltender Lyam Leblanc was rock-solid between the pipes for the Ramblers all night, stopping 38 of 39 shots, including several key saves during Yarmouth’s early surge. The Mariners outshot Amherst 17–7 in the first period, but Leblanc’s composure held the line until his team could find its offensive footing.

The third period saw the pace quicken — and the scoreboard light up. Elliot Wright doubled Amherst’s lead at 11:34, scoring off a rush to give the home side a 2–0 cushion. But Yarmouth answered almost immediately. Just 40 seconds later, Cole MacLeod trimmed the lead to 2–1 with a quick finish off a setup from Ewan Cleary, breathing new life into the visiting bench.

That momentum shift, however, was short-lived. A mere 14 seconds after the Mariners’ tally, Cooper Cormier responded with a sharp-angle goal — assisted by Mark Corbett and the ever-present Anthony Gaudet — to restore Amherst’s two-goal lead at 12:28. The building erupted, and from there, the Ramblers clamped down defensively to seal the win.

While both teams were penalized heavily throughout the contest — a combined 15 minor penalties were assessed — it was Amherst who made their special teams count, going 1-for-3 on the power play. Yarmouth, on the other hand, went 0-for-4, unable to solve Leblanc during key man-advantage moments.

Yarmouth’s goaltender Keegan Warren was steady as well, making 34 saves on 37 shots, but Amherst’s surge in the second and third periods proved too much to overcome. The final shot count favored the Mariners, 39–37, though it was Amherst who created higher-quality chances in the final 40 minutes.

A crowd of 649 watched as the Ramblers improved their season standing with a complete team effort marked by timely scoring, disciplined defense, and clutch goaltending.
