Ramblers Score Three in Second Period to Defeat Bearcats

AMHERST, N.S. — The Amherst Ramblers used a strong second period to power past the Truro Bearcats with a 4–2 victory Saturday night at Amherst Stadium in Maritime Hockey League action. The win came in front of a lively crowd of 1,135 fans and saw the Ramblers score three goals in the middle frame to take control of the game.

Truro opened the scoring midway through the first period when Evans found the back of the net at 6:55, assisted by Bolduc and Sutherland, giving the Bearcats a 1–0 lead. Amherst responded late in the period as Cooper Cormier continued his strong season, burying his 35th goal of the year at 19:22. Cormier’s marker, set up by Anthony Gaudet and Jeremie Richard, sent the teams into the first intermission tied 1–1.

The Bearcats briefly regained the lead early in the second period when Aucoin scored just 39 seconds into the frame, assisted by Halliday and Fontaine. The Ramblers answered back quickly and then took over the game. Zach Wheeler tied the contest at 2–2 at 5:04 with a goal off a feed from Christian White. Amherst continued to push the pace late in the period as Jeremie Richard scored his second goal of the season at 18:27, assisted by Kaine, to give the home side its first lead of the night. With just one second remaining in the period, Ty Peddigrew added an insurance marker at 19:59 after taking a pass from Owen Aura and Wheeler, sending the Ramblers to the dressing room with a 4–2 advantage.

The third period featured strong defensive play and solid goaltending from both teams. Amherst netminder Lavoie turned aside 40 of 42 shots on the night to secure the victory, while Truro’s Berthiaume made 38 saves on 42 shots in the loss. Neither team found the scoreboard in the final frame as the Ramblers closed out the 4–2 win.

Both teams finished the night with 42 shots on goal, while special teams played a limited role in the contest. Truro went 0-for-4 on the power play and Amherst was unable to convert on its lone opportunity.
