The Amherst Ramblers couldn’t find their footing Thursday night, falling 5–1 to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in a game that got away in the middle frame.

The opening period was tightly contested but chippy, with both teams trading penalties and few clean scoring chances. Jeremie Richard picked up a major and a game misconduct for fighting midway through the frame, while Zach Wheeler was called for high-sticking late. Despite the physical tone, the Ramblers held Pictou County scoreless through 20 minutes.

The second period, however, belonged to the Crushers. Just over two minutes in, Logan Crosby opened the scoring on the power play, assisted by O’Donnell and Austin. A few minutes later, Kingsley Austin doubled the lead off a setup from Moser and Allen. Pictou County’s power play struck again at 17:33 when Crosby netted his second of the night, extending the lead to 3–0. Amherst struggled to generate sustained pressure, as penalty trouble continued to stall their momentum.

In the third, the Crushers kept their foot on the gas. Aiden O’Donnell made it 4–0 at 8:09 before Amherst finally broke through at 11:06, when Bailey Shortall buried a feed from Owen Aura and Jack O’Blenis to give the Ramblers a spark. But any hopes of a comeback were short-lived — Moser iced the game at 18:58 with Pictou County’s fifth goal of the night.

Amherst was outshot 29–27 and couldn’t capitalize on their three power-play opportunities, while the Crushers went 2-for-4 with the man advantage. Goaltender Lyam LeBlanc turned aside 24 shots in the loss, keeping the Ramblers within reach until the late stages.
