Ramblers Take Commanding 3–1 Lead in Strait Rivalry Series with 5–2 Win Over Summerside

Amherst, NS — The Amherst Ramblers strengthened their hold on the Strait Rivalry Series on Sunday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 5–2 victory over the Summerside Capitals at Amherst Stadium. With the win, Amherst now holds a 3–1 lead in the season series.

Summerside opened the scoring just 26 seconds into the game, striking early to take a 1–0 lead. The Ramblers answered back with authority later in the first period. Cooper Cormier got Amherst on the board with a power-play goal at 14:03, before adding his second of the period late in the frame to give the Ramblers a 2–1 advantage after 20 minutes.

The Capitals evened the score early in the second period with a power-play goal to make it 2–2, setting up a tightly contested final frame. Both teams pushed for the go-ahead goal through the middle portion of the game, but neither side was able to break through until the late stages.

Amherst took control in the third period, when Thomas Gagnon restored the lead just 5 minutes in. The Ramblers then sealed the win dramatically with two shorthanded goals in the final minutes. Anthony Gaudet would get hauled down on a empty net breakaway to make the game 4-2 then just 20 seconds later Cooper Cormier would complete the hat trick, again on the empty net.

In goal, the Ramblers received a strong performance from Hudson Bradley as they weathered sustained pressure, while Amherst capitalized on key moments and special-teams opportunities. The Ramblers finished the game with one power-play goal and delivered a decisive third-period surge to secure the victory.
