Ramblers Top Wildcats

AMHERST, N.S. — The Amherst Ramblers skated to a hard-fought 5–2 victory over the Valley Wildcats in front of a lively crowd at Amherst Stadium Saturday night. Amherst responded strongly after an early deficit and used a dominant third period to secure the win.
Valley drew first blood just 2:11 into the opening period when Plourde converted with helpers from Pineau and Tremblay, putting the Wildcats ahead 1–0. Amherst answered late in the first, as Mark Corbett tipped home a shot from Anthony Gaudet and Hayes at 17:09 to knot the game at 1–1 after 20 minutes.
The second period remained scoreless, with both teams battling through penalties and defensive stands.
Amherst flipped the game in the third frame with a flurry of offense. Early in the period, Gaudet notched his 23rd of the season on the power play, set up by Corbett and Aura at 1:29. Valley’s Bent responded at 17:35, trimming the deficit to 2–2, but the Ramblers answered with three unanswered tallies in the final three minutes: Kaine buried a power-play goal at 18:05, Corbett added another on the man advantage at 18:18, and Morin sealed the win with an empty-netter at 18:48.
Goalie Brandon Lavoie earned the win between the pipes, making 21 saves on 23 shots, while Valley’s Hogan stopped 31 of 35. Amherst outshot the Wildcats 35–23 and capitalized on three of ten power-play opportunities.
The victory keeps the Ramblers rolling as they continue their push in the Maritime Junior Hockey League standings. Amherst now looks ahead to its next matchup with confidence and momentum.
