Strang And Howatt Secure The Win In Grand Falls
It was a defensive battle all game long on Sunday afternoon in western New Brunswick.
Both goalies, Jack Howatt and Will Hodgson, were unbeatable for the first period with each keeper making a couple of huge saves to send the matinee to the second scoreless.
The incredible goaltending would continue into the second but unlike the first we had goals!! Cooper Cormier continues his impressive rookie campaign by slotting home an Owen Aura bank shot off the endboards to give us the lead 3:45 into the second. Grand Falls would answer back 14 minutes later with Jeremy Boulanger getting his fifth of the year sending the game to the third tied.
It was going to take something spectacular for either team to win this game with the way both goalies were playing. With just about three minutes to go, we would get something spectacular, from the neutral zone Christan Reardon would flip the puck over the head of the Rapids defender and Coen Strang would gain control and bet the goalie blocker side, adding to his lead in points by a defenseman and sealing the win for the Ramblers.
Two Ramblers were named in the three stars, Jack Howatt made 38 saves to be named the game’s second star, and Coen Strang would be named the first star for his game-winning goal.
