Thank You, Mark

Mark Corbett’s career with the Amherst Ramblers is a story of a physical power forward evolving into the heartbeat of the franchise. From the moment he was acquired in 2023, the Harbour Main, Newfoundland native brought a rare combination of size (6’3″, 200 lbs) and skill that made him a cornerstone of the Ramblers’ roster.
After a brief stint with the Estevan Bruins in the SJHL, Corbett joined the Ramblers early in the 2023–24 season. He quickly established himself as a dominant presence in the Eastlink South Division, recording 27 points in 36 games while racking up 35 penalty minutes. His physical play was a catalyst for the team, but his ability to elevate his game in the postseason—scoring 11 points in 12 playoff games—showed the Ramblers they had a true big-game player.
Corbett’s 2024–25 campaign was marked by increased production and growing influence in the locker room. He nearly doubled his goal total, finishing the season with 23 goals and 48 points in 51 games. His 79 penalty minutes reflected a player willing to play “heavy” hockey to protect teammates and create space for the team’s skill players. Recognizing his leadership qualities, the Ramblers officially named him Team Captain in April 2025, a role he embraced heading into his final season.
In his final year with the Ramblers, Corbett delivered a career-best performance. As the team’s captain, he led from the front, recording 29 goals and 31 assists for 60 points in 49 games. He was particularly dangerous on the power play, where his 12 goals led the team, and he proved to be a clutch performer with 8 game-winning goals. Despite his offensive explosion, he never lost his physical edge, finishing the year with 90 penalty minutes and cementing his reputation as one of the hardest players in the league to play against.
Mark Corbett leaves Amherst as one of the most respected captains in recent memory. He ranks among the franchise’s all-time modern-era leaders in points and goals, but his legacy goes beyond the scoresheet. He was the player who set the tone, whether through a massive hit, a timely goal, or a vocal presence on the bench. His journey from a trade acquisition to a beloved captain who led the team to multiple playoff berths defines an era of Ramblers hockey characterized by grit and resilience.
