Thank You, Owen

Owen Aura’s tenure with the Amherst Ramblers has been a masterclass in steady progression, transforming from a reliable rookie into one of the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s (MHL) premier offensive defensemen. A native of Kamloops, British Columbia, Aura brought a West Coast flair to the Ramblers’ blue line that eventually saw him surpass the prestigious 100-point milestone in an Amherst sweater.
Aura arrived in Amherst for the 2023–24 season following an award-winning campaign in the KIJHL, where he was named the Doug Birks Division Rookie of the Year. He transitioned seamlessly to the MHL, appearing in 39 games and recording 16 points. His vision and skating ability were immediately apparent, setting the stage for what would become a rapid offensive ascent.
In his second year with the organization, Aura truly found his stride. He played in all 52 regular-season games, more than doubling his offensive output with 6 goals and 27 assists for 33 points. As his confidence grew, so did his role on the power play, where his ability to distribute the puck and quarterback the offense became a vital asset for the Ramblers.
Aura’s final season in Amherst was a career-defining performance. He established himself as an elite playmaker from the back end, finishing the 2025–26 campaign with a staggering 46 assists and 53 total points in 52 games. Averaging over a point per game, he was the engine of the Ramblers’ transition game and a primary reason for the team’s deep push into the MHL Cup semi-finals.
Owen Aura leaves the Ramblers as a player who embodied consistency and growth. Over three seasons, he missed very few games and provided a calming, creative presence on the blue line that will be difficult to replace. His evolution from a 16-point rookie to a 53-point veteran leader serves as a testament to his work ethic and the Ramblers’ development program. Whether it was a pinpoint cross-seam pass or a timely defensive stop, Aura’s impact at the Amherst Stadium was profound, leaving a legacy as one of the franchise’s most productive modern-era defensemen.
