Ramblers Wrap-up Weekend With An Overtime Win
After dropping a Saturday night game to the Miramichi Timberwolves the Ramblers were looking to right the ship taking on the newest MHL team in the West Kent Steamers.
The Sunday night affair was a battle of goalies and defence all game, Steamers captain Alexis Daniel had the only goal in the first period, scoring his fourth goal of the season on the powerplay. Luckily, for the Rams, that would be where the goals would end for the Steamers.
Heading into the second the Ramblers found themselves in a 1-0 hole. Charles-Antoine Lavallee would add to his team-leading goal tally with a powerplay goal to draw the Ramblers even 1-1. Jack Howatt was phenomenal throughout the entire game keeping his team tied head to the third.
The goalie duel would continue through the third with neither goalie missing a beat. This game would need overtime.
In the extra period, Howatt should shine once again making a huge save on a breakaway to keep the game going, and with exactly 60 seconds remaining, Coen Strang would turn on the jets and go coast to coast, sniping low blocker on the Steamers goalie to give the Ramblers their second win of the season.
