Victory Holiday

There was lots to celebrate this Monday afternoon at the Stadium.

The party got underway before the game even started, with the Ramblers honouring Roger Gouchie for his many years of dedication to our community and local sports.

After the pregame ceremony and puck drop, the game got underway. Christian Reardon would open the scoring for the Ramblers just over halfway into the opening frame, and shortly after him, it would be Mark Corbett finding the back of the net to double our lead heading to the second.

In the middle period, the offence would keep rolling on with Anthony Gaudet potting his 7th of the year making it 3-0 two minutes into the second, three minutes later Joachim Matulu would spring Jonah Jelley on a shorthanded breakaway and Jelley would do his best Bobby Orr impersonation, being tripped and scoring at the same time to make the Rams lead 4-0.  The fun would keep going in the second with Jack O’Blenis powering a wrist shot through the Valley Keeper sending us to a 5-0 lead. Owen Sparkes would get in on the offence finding a loose puck in front of the Valley net putting us up 6-0 heading to the third.

Compared to the second the third period wasn’t as exciting, but how can you follow up a 5-goal period, Alex Christmas would extend our lead in the final frame to 7-0 just over 5 minutes in. Then with 8 minutes to go Valley would end Lyam LeBlanc’s shutout bid to bring us to our final score of 7-1.

The push for the playoffs gets bigger with each passing game, with the win this afternoon the Ramblers sit 4th in the Eastlink south division but only two points back of second place.

The Ramblers are on the road at the end of the week taking on the Fredericton Red Wings, then are back home for their second to last home game of the season, taking on Pictou County.
