Home Ice Advantage

Another big game, another big crowd, on Sunday evening in the Jungle as the Ramblers were looking to move to within one win of closing this series out.

It was a tense opening frame for the Rams with Pictou County flying out of the gate with a couple of great chances, but Lyam LeBlanc would turn them all aside to keep the score 0-0 after the 1st.

The script would flip in the second with the Ramblers running the show but still couldn’t get the puck past the Crusher’s goalie. 7 minutes into the middle frame that would change, on the penalty kill Jonah Jelley would be sprung on a breakaway by Joachim Matulu and Jelley would make no mistake, getting the goalie to bite on a deke and he would have an open to slide the puck into to give us a 1-0 lead heading to the third.

Entering the third the Ramblers would keep the pressure high and it would pay off in a big way with Liam Dutcher feeding Drew MacIntyre, who would bring the Crushers goalie out of position, MacIntyre would then pass cross ice to a wide-open Alex Christmas who buried the puck and extended the Ramblers lead to 2-0. Before the end of the game, Pictou County would get one back but couldn’t get a second one past Lyam LeBlanc and the Ramblers would pick up a game 5 win to make the best of seven seriesĀ  3-2 in their favour.

The Ramblers will have a chance to close out the series on Tuesday evening as they hit the road to New Glasgow.
