Thank You, Tyler

Tyler Moroz’s career with the Amherst Ramblers has been defined by his role as the ultimate “unsung hero” on the blue line. Standing at 6’4″ and 215 lbs, the La Salle, Manitoba native arrived in Amherst via a trade in 2024 and immediately solidified the Ramblers’ defensive structure with his massive reach and physical presence.
Moroz began his junior hockey journey in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with the Winnipeg Freeze, where he quickly earned a reputation as a hard-nosed, stay-at-home defenseman. Seeking a new challenge, he spent a season in the CCHL with the Kemptville 73’s before being acquired by the Ramblers in August 2024. His veteran experience across multiple leagues was a welcome addition to a young Amherst defensive corps.
In his first full season with the Ramblers, Moroz appeared in 48 games, focusing almost entirely on shutting down the opposition’s top scoring lines. While he only recorded 3 assists, his impact was felt in his +12 rating and his presence on the penalty kill. His ability to clear the front of the net and win battles in the corners made him a favourite of the coaching staff and a respected leader in the locker room.
In his final year of junior eligibility, Moroz took on an even greater leadership role. He played in 50 games, providing a calming influence during a highly competitive season. While he finished the year with 5 assists, his value was best measured by his role in the Ramblers’ run to the MHL Cup semi-finals. He was often paired with younger defensemen, serving as a mentor and a reliable safety net that allowed his partners to join the rush.
Tyler Moroz leaves Amherst as a player who understood his role and performed it to perfection. He was the quintessential “defence-first” player—a rare breed in the modern era. His physical presence and shot-blocking ability were crucial in several high-stakes playoff victories, and he will be remembered as a cornerstone of the Ramblers’ defensive identity. His quiet leadership and work ethic have left a lasting impression on the next generation of Ramblers defensemen.
